Italy - Certified translations

Translations into Italian

Sworn translations from foreign languages into Italian must be certified by the translator as "per traduzione conforme".

Translations done in Italy and required for submission to Italian authorities must be carried out by a court-appointed a sworn translator and certified by the translator at the court or before a notary public.

If a translation is certified abroad, the translation must be certified according to the rules of the country where it is carried out, and then legalized by Apostille stamp by the local Italian embassyExternal link (opens in new tab) (note that each Italian embassy may have specific rules for certifying local translations or their own designated translators).

Translations from Italian for submission abroad

A translation of an Italian document into another language can be certified in Italy. However, the sworn translation will often also need to be legalized with an Apostille stamp from the Public Prosecutor’s Office (an additional procedure that authenticates a document or translation for international use).

Italian translations required for submission to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates or Qatar must be legalized by the UAE or Qatari embassy in Rome.

Translations may also be certified in the country where the document is to be submitted. Italian translations required for submission to foreign embassies in Rome may also require legalization by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an Italian Apostille Stamp.

If you have Italian documents that require certified translation, or documents in any other language that you need translated into Italian, please contact us for a quote. We will get back to you promptly with a quotation and details of the procedure:

      International Document Certification

      Apostille and Legalization Services

A certified Italian translation only provides legal assurance that the translation is true and accurate; it does not confirm the authenticity of the original document.

When submitting foreign documents for legal purposes, e.g. immigration procedures, court cases or visa applications, it is generally necessary to first legalize the original document. Depending on the country of issue, this can be done with an Apostille Stamp or at the embassy of the recipient country.

      Cross-border document attestation

Isarey works with local certification specialists, law firms and notaries in over 100 countries to legalize documents for legal use in Italy.

We also arrange authentication of all types of documents in Italy for legal use abroad, including identity documents, birth, marriage and death certificates, criminal record certificates (Certificato Generale del Casellario Giudiziale / Certificato dei Carichi Pendenti), academic diplomas, company documents and court papers.

We provide authentication with Apostille Stamps, and legalization of documents at all major embassies in Rome, including the embassies of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

Isarey takes care of the entire certification process from start to finish, ensuring that each process is completed efficiently and securely. Our in-country certification agents will ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures, working with certified Italian translators, local notaries, government offices and embassies as required. We pre-check and help prepare your documents to ensure they are valid and eligible for certification, and we’ll arrange worldwide collection and delivery of original documents by insured courier.
