Argentina - Certified translations

Translations into Spanish

Foreign documents required for submission to authorities in Argentina or to Argentinian embassies abroad should normally be translated in Argentina (traducción pública). Translations should be certified by a public translator (traductor público) and legalized by CTPCBA – Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.

Translations of Argentinian documents into foreign languages

Argentinian documents that need to be translated from Spanish for submission to authorities in other countries or foreign embassies in Buenos Aires can be authenticated in Argentina with an Apostille Stamp or legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ecuador - Certified translations

Spain - Certified translations

Translations into Spanish

Foreign documents required for submission to authorities in Spain should be translated into Spanish in Spain. Translations should be done after all certifications (e.g. Apostilles) have been applied to the original documents. Translations required for submission to Spanish authorities must be certified by a translator who is authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign AffairsExternal link (opens in new tab) (in Spanish) (traducción jurada)

Any translation to Spanish done abroad must be undertaken or checked at a Spanish ConsulateExternal link (opens in new tab), or confirmed by a foreign embassy in Madrid. The translation must then be legalised at the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs before it can be submitted to authorities in Spain.

Translations from Spanish

Certified translations of documents in Spanish that are needed for use abroad must be legalized by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then by the embassy of the destination country in Madrid. Spain does not issue Apostille Stamps to certify translations, so it is often easier to undertake a certified translation in the destination country.

Translations into Spanish

Foreign documents required for submission to authorities in Mexico should normally be translated in Mexico (traducción certificada). However, there are no uniform rules in Mexico governing certified translations, so exact requirements should be confirmed with the authority that is receiving the translation.

Most Mexican States maintain a list of expert translators (perito traductor autorizado) appointed by the High Court (Tribunal Superior) - translations certified by a state-authorised expert translator will be valid only for institutions of that State.

Translations of Mexican documents into foreign languages

Mexican documents that need to be translated from Spanish for submission to authorities in other countries can be authenticated in Mexico with an Apostille Stamp. Most Mexican States do not issue Apostille Stamps to certify translations, but Apostilles can be obtained from the State of Querétaro to certify translations of all Mexican documents. If a translation is required for submission to a foreign embassy in Mexico City, then specific requirements should be confirmed with the recipient embassy.

A certified Spanish translation only provides legal assurance that the translation is true and accurate; it does not confirm the authenticity of the original document.

When submitting foreign documents for legal purposes, e.g. immigration procedures, court cases or visa applications, it is generally necessary to first legalize the original document.
