General Register Office

The General Register Office holds records of births, deaths, marriages, civil partnerships and adoptions in England and Wales. Search birth and death indexes and order copies of registration certificates that can be subsequently certified by apostille or legalized for presentation abroad.
Priority Service: certificates despatched on the next working day.
Standard Service: certificates despatched on fourth working day following application (if GRO index supplied) or the fifteenth working day (if a GRO index reference has not been supplied)

International Child Protection Certificate

If you are a UK national or have previously lived in the UK and want to work with children overseas, then you might require an International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC). The ICPC confirms whether or not the applicant has a criminal history and provides details, including relevant conviction and non-conviction data, including details of any information deemed relevant in the interest of child protection.

ACRO Police Certificates

ACRO Police Certificates are for people who wish to emigrate or require a visa to live and work abroad. The certificate details whether or not you have a criminal record in the United Kingdom and is required as part of the visa process by the respective high commission or embassy.

• Police Certificates are issued individually to the person named on the application.
• Anyone who has lived or worked in the UK can apply for a Police Certificate.
• You will need to provide ONE document which clearly shows your name and your current address. This is where you live now and can be outside the UK.
