Authenticate French degree certificates and academic diplomas for use abroad

French university and academic diplomas can be authenticated for submission to authorities abroad with an Apostille Stamp from the Court of Appeal or legalized at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and embassy of the recipient country in Paris.

We can authenticate Baccalauréat diplomas, university degrees and transcripts (relevé de notes), diplôme national de licence, Brevet, Certificat d'aptitude professionnelle, Diplôme universitaire, Diplôme d'État, Diplôme national de Master, Diplôme national de Doctorat.

Diplomas required for submission to other countries which are members of the Apostille Convention can be authenticated with an Apostille Stamp issued by the Court of Appeal - a process that normally takes 1-2 weeks.
Apostille countries include: United States - Spain - Italy - Portugal - Greece - Cyprus - United Kingdom - Saudi Arabia - Germany - China.

French academic documents required for submission to other countries must be legalized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and also at the embassy of the recipient country in Paris. For example: Qatar - Kuwait - United Arab Emirates - Taiwan - Vietnam

When French documents require an apostille or authentication for use in a country that does not have French as an official language, a certified translation may need to be authenticated as well (translator registered with the court).

Procedure to authenticate French diplomas and degree certificates

Before being presented to the Court of Appeal (Apostilles) or Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Legalization), a true copy of the diploma or certificate should be made and certified by a French town hall, notary or French embassy or consulate aboard.

You can send us the original diploma or the certified copy. The Apostille Stamp is then affixed to the certified copy.

Only diplomas issued by public institutions are valid for an apostille stamp. If you have a certificate issued by a private academic institution in France, please contact us for advice.

Attesting French Educational Certificates for use in Spain

Spain is a signatory to the Apostille Convention, so qualifications certified by French Apostille will be accepted by Spanish Authorities, including the Ministry of Education, directly without requiring attestation by the Spanish Embassy. However, documents in French must be translated into Spanish. This translation must be correctly certified by a translator registered with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Attest French degrees for the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait

Academic certificates required for the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait or for presentation in support of UAE, Qatari and Kuwaiti work permit and residency applications must be authenticated by both the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by the embassy in Paris. To complete this procedure, we need the original diplomas or a copy certified by a French town hall, notary or French embassy.

We can also certify and attest a translation into English or Arabic. Following authentication by the embassy, we can send your certificates by courier directly to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha.

Legalize French University degrees at the embassies of Vietnam and Thailand in Paris

We legalize French university degrees, diplomas and other certificates at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires étrangères) and the embassies of Vietnam and Thailand in Paris. We also provide and legalize certified translations of documents in French.
